It’s January 2025. Alex sums up the project’s progress so far, including the materials used from the site to build the project.
The very beautiful red Hereford earth has been used to create our rammed earth walls. We were then able to use the oak timber from the beautiful wood on the estate, which the house overlooks, to provide the oak frame.
At the moment, we’re working with local companies in order to pull together the structure. We’ve been on site at Whitney Sawmills, where they’ve just started their cutting and milling of the oak trees we harvested in May. That will go to a local carpentering firm who will then convert that timber into the frame.
After this stage, the different elements of the timber frames will come together. The frame is scheduled to arrive on site on April 1st. That will allow us to progress to the next phase, which will be the roofs and windows.
