It’s time to construct the concrete plinths for the rammed earth walls using shuttering. This project features two key walls – a long straight spinal wall, connecting to a curved wall that encloses the curved glazing. The curve is designed to maximise the stunning view out into the landscape.
The garden design will enhance the experience of the landscape and enable the village to benefit from this. This visual and ecological enrichment of what is currently an intensively grazed open field will lead to a ‘re-wilding’ of the area, creating a rich, diverse, exceptional landscape.
We are also building the on-site drainage system. This is designed to slow the run-off from the existing site and prevent local flooding issues that occur on the nearby road.
The landscape has been designed by Robert Myers Associates, a nationally important landscape practice. Based in Herefordshire, they work on some of the most important buildings in the country. Their works include the Courtyard at Hereford Cathedral as well as Hampton Park in London. Awards include the Society of Garden Designers’ Grand Award 2017 and six gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
