On 30 October 2015, Alex spoke at Ledbury and District Civic Society.
The theme of Alex’s talk was Words and Works of Transformation and was a similar talk to the one he gave to Leominster Civic Society earlier this year and looked at the 14th Century Farmhouse, the 17th Century Barn and St Peter’s Church, Peterchurch.
Mary Winfield, who organised the talk on behalf of the Society, said, “All three projects displayed the creative vision needed to ensure the successful integration of ancient and modern, achieved through technical expertise and the sensitive use of materials. The lengthy applause at the end showed our appreciation of these splendid projects.” She also invited Alex to speak again at a future date to be arranged.
Alex commented, “It is always a delight to speak to a Civic Society because the members are always passionately engaged with their local community, especially when it comes to the built environment. Ledbury has a great number of heritage assets such as the Market House, the church and the Master’s House, which is a nationally important regeneration project. The Civic Society in Ledbury is instrumental in the preservation and regeneration of all these historic spaces and it was a pleasure to talk to a group that is promoting such good standards nationally.”
